Your doctors might send you for a scan, x-ray or another type of test to help tell them what’s going on inside your body. The results from these tests will help to tell doctors whether your treatment is working and what other medicine or care you might need.
Simple tests, like a blood test, might take place at an Outpatient Clinic, or on your ward if you’re an in-patient, staying overnight. For some other tests, you might be invited to come to the hospital as a day patient in the Planned Investigations Unit.
The play team can help you understand any tests, scans or x-rays you need to have. You can ask them – or another person looking after you – to explain and answer any questions. You can read more about scans and x-rays here.
